A journey that began with one simple question: Can footwear respect the planet?
Original Cork started from modest beginnings, but our drive and will to achieve positive change have allowed us to grow into the successful Online Eco-Friendly Product Store we are today. It’s not just about offering environmentally friendly and socially responsible products, we strive to inspire the global community to embrace a sustainable lifestyle. Our story began in the Summer of 2011 when my son searched for sustainable flip flops.....He looked in his favourite surf shops when he realised that all flip flops were made of rubber/plastic.
At that exact moment, he had his first idea - to create 100% eco-friendly flip flops. He realized Portuguese cork could be an original and sustainable material he could use, mostly found in Alentejo landscape, where there were those half-naked trees with no bark.
Draws his first sketch and this was just the beginning of the concept and inspiration for the name of the brand Original Cork, our family business.
